Sing to the Lord a new song… keyword: NEW
The reverse is true as well: new songs make people move towards God.
But not all songs have this effect. Many “new” worship songs simply rehash the same old phrases in the same old style. But when God says “new”, he really means “new”.
By doing so, we ensure that the songs you sing connect with today’s culture. On top of that, we avoid overused phrases and write songs of commitment to Christ.
“Our songs must reflect our commitment to Christ, and be inviting to today’s culture”
Let me feel the love you’re feeling when a seeker looks for truth. (and) Let me feel the jo-oy you’re feeling when that person turns to you. (and) On top of that I ask: “let me feel the pain You have for the people you made who are living so far away from You”.
No one has to live this way! Without God, without You! In my heart I hear You say, go my child, I’m sending you.
Let me be the one who listens when you’re asking us to go. Let me have the fun of sharing all the good news You have shown. (and) On top of that I ask “let me feel the pain You have for the people you made who are living so far away from you”.
